The Most Common Bra Fit Problems & How to Fix Them
Some say that the best feeling is to take off your bra after a long day. We say that it feels even better to wear one so comfortable that you don't even want to take it off. Problems with size and cut can be really annoying or even painful. Constant grooming, irritating material and straps that don't stay in place or cut – these are all common frustrations that we know well. It may not seem like a big deal, but over time, it can damage posture, irritate the skin, or simply spoil the mood. That's why finding a well-fitting bra is our favorite form of self-care.
Whether you're wearing your first bra or your fiftieth bra, you probably have at least one reservation about the one you wear every day. But before you throw away your entire bra stack, we've got some simple tips that can help you achieve the perfect fit.
Straps that cut
It may come as a surprise that this problem is often caused not by the straps themselves, but by the circumference of the bra - it provides up to 80% support. If it is too loose, the straps have to bear most of the load, which leads to annoying cuts. Try tightening the bra circumference by one or two hooks and see if that brings relief.
The next simple step is to adjust the straps. It is recommended to check their settings every few weeks. It's ideal to start with the middle setting and then fine-tune it as needed – it depends on your character and personal preferences.
If you've already loosened your straps, adjusted your circumference, and you're still feeling pressure or pain, it may be time to measure your bra size again – to find one that really fits you.
Underwires that press or cut
Whether it's pressing under your armpits, to the sides or directly under your breasts – this is a common problem that often signals the wrong bra size. Our first recommendation is to get measured again. However, sometimes the haircut itself can also be to blame. If your underwire is pressing even though you're the right size, try a bra without underwire or a softly shaped bra.
However, if you like the support provided by a classic underwire bra and don't want to give it up completely, you don't have to worry. We also offer models with softly padded underwires. This gives you the support you need without annoying pushing.
Straps that slip
A simple adjustment may be the solution. Start by tightening them – it is possible that they have pulled or loosened over time. Then try fastening the bra on a tighter hook. This is because the loose circumference can cause the straps to either cut or slide off the shoulders.
If these adjustments don't help, try a bra with a racerback cut (Y-shaped straps on the back). This style is especially suitable for women with narrow shoulders.
A frame that doesn't sit flat
If the bra in the front – that is, the bridge between the cups – does not fit your body, it may mean that the size does not fit you. First, try fastening the bra on a looser hook. If that doesn't help, you probably have baskets that are too small. If even the right size does not ensure a better fit, a model with a front fastening may be the solution – it often fits better and the gap between the baskets is less visible.
If your underwire is shifting upwards, the problem may be in the circumference. Measure yourself and check that you are not wearing a bra that is too loose or too tight.
Baskets from which breasts "overflow”
Even if you wear a bra designed for better support, your breasts should not peek out from above, below or on the sides of the cups. Not only is this uncomfortable, but it can also cause soreness or even bruising. If you notice that your breasts "overflow" from the baskets, it needs to be addressed.
At first glance, it may seem that these are too small baskets. But the size of the cups and the circumference work together – try fastening the bra on a looser hook first. If that doesn't work, have your size measured again and try a different combination of circumference and baskets.
Circumference that is being rolled up
A properly fitting bra has a circumference that lies horizontally and flat on the back. If it is too loose, it will roll upwards during the day. Try to tighten it first. If you're already using the tightest fastening, pay attention to the straps – they may be too tight. Release them and see if that fixes the problem.
Baskets that create a gap
This problem may be caused by the natural shape of your breasts. Start by placing all of the breast tissue correctly in the baskets and make sure that the underwire (or boneless structure) wraps tightly around your breasts. If the baskets still do not fit tightly and the gap persists, tighten the straps to lift the baskets and hold them in place.
If these adjustments don't help, try a smaller cup size or bra that better suits the shape of your breasts.
We recommend that you always double-check your size if you have trouble fitting your bra. Breast size can change throughout life, so it's good to know how to measure yourself correctly. There are many types of bras because each body, shape, and breast size is unique. If you're sure you're the right size, maybe the style you're wearing isn't right for you.
